Sondra Butterworth and Anne Lofthouse devised the PHACS model as a result of a mutual interest in working with people who become distressed when being Moved and Handled. Sondra and Anne have extensive clinical and managerial experience, with a combination of 48 years of practice between them. They approach Moving and Handling situations from a very broad perspective, and have developed some creative solutions to complex situations.
Sondra has a background in Nursing (RGN) Psychology (MSc and BSc Hons), Education (PGCE) and a Post Grad Cert in Back Care (Loughborough University). Sondra is currently Consultant Moving and Handling Co-ordinator for Warrington Social Care and Warrington PCT
